    Get a closer look at Detroit’s newest crown jewel and the NFL’s most revered stadium. Get a peek at a Ford Field Suite, the press level and the Detroit Lions locker room.   • Ford Rouge Factory Tours, Henry Ford Museum, 20900 Oakwood Blvd. in Dearborn.
    Ford Motor Company and The Henry Ford are working together on a new visitor experience. Groups will begin at The Henry Ford and board a bus en route to the actual Ford Rouge plant. Aboard the bus, visitors will view, via videotape, the story of Rouge. Once they arrive at the plant, guests with view both past and future auto manufacturing in two state-of-the-art theatres. They will then go to the Rouge Visitor Center’s observation level which overlooks the world’s largest "living roof". The living roof is growing on the Dearborn Truck Plant Final Assembly building. Finally, the tour will end in the assembly plant where visitors will get an up-close look at the actual production of the Ford F-150 Truck. After conclusion, the visitors will be bused back to The Henry Ford. PLEASE NOTE THAT ON WEEKENDS AND SPECIFIC DATES ACTUAL PRODUCTION MAY NOT TAKE PLACE.     visitors walk through reproductions of a marketplace in Benin, a slave dungeon and slave ship, a rice plantation’s slaves quarters and several other environments. Also on display are life masks of famous African-Americans including Harriet Tubman, Dr. Martin Luther King and feisty former Detroit Mayor Coleman Young. Detroit history is also reflected in the circa-1960s walk up Woodward Avenue and the re-created Horse Shoe Lounge-Club 606 in the Black Bottom district. (313) 494-5800

  • Teens Using Drugs: What To Know and What To Do, St. Joseph Mercy Hospital Education Center, 5305 Elliott Drive, Ypsilanti, Michigan 48197.
    "Teens Using Drugs: What To Know and What To Do" is a FREE, ongoing, two-part workshop series designed to help participants learn to understand, identify and address adolescent alcohol/other drug problems. Part 1 is presented on the first Tuesday of each month from October through June, provides information on how to understand and recognize the signs of a teen substance abuse problem, and includes a short video. Part 2 is presented on the second Tuesday of each month from October through June, provides information on what should and should not be done when a teen substance abuse problem is recognized, and concludes with an open talk by a teen speaker in recovery. The series is presented by Ronald E. Harrison, SW, and is co-sponsored by Dawn Farm, the Livingston/Washtenaw Safe and Drug Free Schools and Communities Act Consortium, and Saint Joseph Mercy Health System Mission Services. All workshops are free and open to all. The presentations are targeted primarily to parents and caretakers of teens, but are also inclusive of teens, family members, people who work with teens, students, and anyone interested in attending for any reason.     "Eating Disorders" will be presented on June 22, 2010; 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm; by Dr. Carl Christensen, MD, Ph.D.; Addictionologist; and Lori Perpich, TLLP, MS Clinical Behavioral Psychology; cognitive behavioral therapist and EDEN program facilitator. This program will examine the evidence that eating disorders are true biopsychosocial diseases, similar to chemical dependency. It will define various eating disorders and their consequences, explore neurobiological theories of addiction, discuss screening tools used for eating disorders, and provide information on treatment options and resources for eating disorders.
