Ford Motor Company and The Henry Ford are working together on a new visitor experience. Groups will begin at The Henry Ford and board a bus en route to the actual Ford Rouge plant. Aboard the bus, visitors will view, via videotape, the story of Rouge. Once they arrive at the plant, guests with view both past and future auto manufacturing in two state-of-the-art theatres. They will then go to the Rouge Visitor Center’s observation level which overlooks the world’s largest "living roof". The living roof is growing on the Dearborn Truck Plant Final Assembly building. Finally, the tour will end in the assembly plant where visitors will get an up-close look at the actual production of the Ford F-150 Truck. After conclusion, the visitors will be bused back to The Henry Ford. PLEASE NOTE THAT ON WEEKENDS AND SPECIFIC DATES ACTUAL PRODUCTION MAY NOT TAKE PLACE. "Teens Using Drugs: What To Know and What To Do" is a FREE, ongoing, two-part workshop series designed to help participants learn to understand, identify and address adolescent alcohol/other drug problems. Part 1 is presented on the first Tuesday of each month from October through June, provides information on how to understand and recognize the signs of a teen substance abuse problem, and includes a short video. Part 2 is presented on the second Tuesday of each month from October through June, provides information on what should and should not be done when a teen substance abuse problem is recognized, and concludes with an open talk by a teen speaker in recovery. The series is presented by Ronald E. Harrison, SW, and is co-sponsored by Dawn Farm, the Livingston/Washtenaw Safe and Drug Free Schools and Communities Act Consortium, and Saint Joseph Mercy Health System Mission Services. All workshops are free and open to all. The presentations are targeted primarily to parents and caretakers of teens, but are also inclusive of teens, family members, people who work with teens, students, and anyone interested in attending for any reason. - Lenore Marwil Jewish Film Festival, This event is sponsored by the Jewish Community Center of Metropolitan Detroit and will be held at the Palladium 12 theater in Birmingham, the United Artists theatres in Commerce, the Michigan Theatre in Ann Arbor and the Flint Institute of Arts. .
The Jewish Community Center of Metropolitan Detroit’s Lenore Marwil Jewish Film Festival will be held April 25-May 6, 2010, and will feature movies from throughout the world and many Michigan premieres.
Among the films to be shown are “A Matter of Size,” the story of a Jewish Sumo wrestler; “Adam Resurrected,” starring Jeff Goldblum and Willem Dafoe in the story of a Holocaust survivor who comes to the aid of a troubled boy; “Blessed Is the Match,” focusing on WWII hero Hannah Senesh; “City of Borders,” a documentary about a gay bar in Jerusalem, popular with both Jews and Palestinians; “Disturbing the Universe,” a profile of controversial lawyer William Kunstler: “Gut Shabbes Vietnam,” the story of a young rabbi and his family who move to Vietnam; “Holyland Hardball,” focusing on a handful of U.S. businessmen who create the Israeli Baseball League; “Jump,” starring the late Patrick Swayze in the story of an extraordinary trial in Austria; “No. 4 Street of Our Lady,” the true story of a Polish-Catholic woman who rescued 16 of her Jewish neighbors during the Holocaust; “Sidney Turtlebaum,” a comedy about an 80-year-old Jewish pickpocket; “The Brothers Warner,” about the four film pioneers; and “The Debt,” a thriller about a man in a nursing home who may, or may not, be a former Nazi.

The Newest Indoor Skate Park in the Lansing and Surrounding Areas is OPEN
Bikers’ Church – Saturday, May 1, 2010. Noon to midnight. Grand Opening Day for Skater Church, the indoor skateboard and BMX park of Bikers’ Church in Mason, MI.
The Grand Opening will include contests, raffles, prizes, food and refreshments, free open skate and a fundraiser concert featuring a local band. The fundraiser is to purchase sound system equipment for Skater Church.
Contests and free open skate will be for skateboard, inline, scooter and BMX riders. Ages 13 and under from noon to 3pm. Ages 14 and up from 3pm to 8pm. Concert featuring “To Fear the Wolf” will be from 8pm to midnight. $10 donation for concert and a late skate session.
Skater Church is a ministry of Bikers’ Church. Built by kids and young adults within Holt and Mason, it is the only indoor skate park of it size between Grand Rapids and Novi, Michigan. It was designed to be open to the community and provide a safe place for the community kids to come hang out and ride. Some of Skater Church’s park features include a wide array of ramps including street and rhythm with custom features like a “spox” and “spine mini.” Bikers’ Church will also be open for this Grand Opening Event.
